Rep. Thomas Kean Jr. is finally speaking publicly after months of absence from Capitol Hill sparked growing questions about his health, political future, and the impact his disappearance has had on Republicans\u2019 razor-thin House majority.<\/p>\n

The New Jersey Republican, who has not cast a vote in the House since March 5, broke his silence Thursday in an interview with the New Jersey Globe, saying he expects to make a \u201cfull recovery\u201d and plans to return to Washington within weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy doctors are confident that I\u2019m on the road to a full recovery,\u201d Kean said. \u201cI understand the need for public transparency, and I appreciate the support of my constituents.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kean, 57, also attempted to shut down speculation that he may retire rather than seek reelection in one of the nation\u2019s most competitive congressional battlegrounds.<\/p>\n
