Former First Lady Jill Biden has opened up about her husband, Joe Biden, and his ongoing health struggles.<\/p>\n
Her latest comments come after the former president and long-serving U.S. senator from Delaware was diagnosed last year with grade group 5 prostate cancer.<\/p>\n
Jill Biden, 75, opened up about the emotional toll of former Joe Biden\u2019s health battle during an appearance this week on the Jaime Kern Lima Show.<\/p>\n
Biden discussed how she has been coping as her husband\u2019s cancer has spread to his bones and the couple confronts uncertainty about what lies ahead.<\/p>\n
She said she tries to remain focused on the present and avoid dwelling on negative or unproductive thoughts as the family navigates the former president\u2019s illness.<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course I\u2019m scared,\u201d Jill said. \u201cI mean, first of all, he\u2019s almost 10 years older than I am. And with an illness \u2026 you kinda can\u2019t let your head go there.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like, you can\u2019t imagine life without them. But you know they\u2019re going to die \u2014 just like I know I\u2019m going to die,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo part of it, you accept,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Jill Biden described her husband as \u201cstrong\u201d and \u201cresilient\u201d as he continues to deal with his cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n
She said the former president has not shared any fears he may have about his illness with her, adding that she did not expect him to do so given the way he has traditionally handled difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s always been the strength of our family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Despite the difficult emotions surrounding Joe Biden\u2019s health, Jill Biden said the couple is trying not to dwell on the challenges posed by his illness.<\/p>\n
Instead, she said they are focused on appreciating their time together and making the most of each day as the former president continues his cancer treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can\u2019t look at life that way \u2026 We look at it like, \u2018Joe has cancer. He\u2019s gonna die, so let\u2019s make the most of every moment,\u2019 \u201d Jill said.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2018Let\u2019s be together \u2026 let\u2019s find things that bring us joy. Let\u2019s make this a positive journey\u2019 \u2014 I mean, not a negative journey, because how can you live with that every day?\u201d she added. \u201cYou can\u2019t. It\u2019s too heavy.\u201d<\/p>\n
